Celebrating Growth: Reflecting on the School Year

Helping Children Become Confident, Joyful Readers at Home

One strategy I use daily is collaborative vocabulary learning. When we introduce a new vocabulary word, I present it on a vocabulary card and invite students to work together to figure out the meaning using context clues, prior knowledge, and discussion. The way children feel going into a test can make a huge difference. With a few small changes at home, you can help your child feel calm, confident, and ready to do their best.
