It is free to apply with year-round enrollment. LEARN MORE MULTI-TIERED SUPPORT SYSTEM MTSS is an operations guide within the school that impacts every single student enrolled at UCP Charter Schools. It is designed to make sure no child falls through the cracks. MTSS is a philosophy that makes sure all students are getting the instruction that they need to reach their goals. There are three tiers of instruction: THE GENERAL CURRICULUM This tier includes every single student enrolled at a UCP Charter School. Every student receives the core instruction. UCP Charter Schools use various curriculum as a means for presenting this core instruction (Go Math, Achieve 3000, etc.). STUDENTS WHO STRUGGLE GET MORE SUPPORT Tier 2 is the next level and uses a program in each subject in addition to the core Tier 1 instruction. INTENSIVE INSTRUCTION Intense level of instruction where diagnostic assignments pinpoint why the student is not learning and an intervention plan is created. This support is provided in a setting with a maximum of a one-instructor-to-three-students ratio with one-to-one instruction being ideal. TIER 3 TIER 2 TIER 1 IF TIER 3 IS NOT SUCCESSFUL: PSYCHOEDUCATIONAL EVALUATIONS/ESE TESTING If a child is still not making adequate progress despite intensive, individualized support, it is likely that an evaluation is warranted to determine if there is a learning disability, intellectual disability, language impairment or other condition. If an evaluation is requested, schools should adjust the instruction further and continue with an intensive level of support while waiting for the evaluation to be completed. MTSS FAMILY BROCHURE LEARN MORE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION RTI INFO HOMELESS INFORMATION The UCP Charter School McKinney-Vento Program is designed to provide services to address challenges children and youth in housing transition may face when enrolling, attending and succeeding in school. The Federal McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act states that children and youth who lack a fixed, regular and adequate nighttime residence qualify as experiencing homelessness. If, due to a loss of housing, a child must live in a shelter, motel, vehicle, or campground, on the street, in abandoned buildings, or doubled-up with relatives or friends, then he/she is eligible to receive services under the McKinney-Vento Act.
