Uniforms

Uniforms are required for students in Kindergarten through 5th grade. What is allowed under the uniform guidelines?

  • Khaki or navy blue shorts, pants, skirts and dresses

  • For students who have sensory requirements – there will be flexibility but the uniform colors should still be maintained (i.e. if they need to wear sweats – they can wear navy sweats). Please be sure to discuss this with your child's teacher or school principal if you have questions.

  • UCP Charter School logo shirts will be required for the 2019-2020 school year and future school years as part of their uniform. We have a new online store where you can purchase shirts and get ready for the new school year!

Why uniforms?

  • It eliminates the status of labels and price tags in the classroom.

  • A feeling of oneness and belonging is fostered by equal dress and further reinforces our full inclusion goals.

  • Uniforms raise students’ expectations of themselves, often leading to calmer, more polite and attentive students.

  • Long-term implementation of a school uniform results in a lessening of financial pressure on parents - less money is spent on clothing.
